Sony Pictures Sues Nigerian Bank + Foreign Ent. News

Bank in Trouble for Format Theft
Sony Pictures and its local affiliates plan to sue a leading ECOWAS bank operating in Nigeria for plagiarizing its TV show format.

A senior employee working in the Corporate Communications department of a leading ECOWAS bank with Headquarters in Lome seems to have offhandedly initiated a proposal that could end up costing the bank a huge deal. It seems the bank is about to slug it out with one of the worlds leading media companies with a turnover of more than USD40 Billion per annum – Sony Pictures.

Formerly a UBA employee, the executive in question has been said to have effortlessly lured the Producers of a licensed Television franchise which was at the time being pitched to UBA to terminate talks with the Africa’s Global Bank (while still an employee there) and allow for her to take the format with her to new employers at this large ECOWAS bank with its Nigerian headquarters in Victoria Island.

Further to unsuccessfully convincing the Producers, she embarked up a self-seeking mission to copy the idea and rename the show that now has something to do with ENTRPRENUERSHIP. Having self-commissioned this copied format for her new bank as senior brand executive, she forged on and got her superiors to put up money for the project.

Now the issue here is that Sony Pictures, who were initially anxious about entering the Nigeria TV terrain and Africa’s Global bank, who the lady-in-question formerly worked for, and the production company -the Producers of the original TV show (Dragons’ Den Nigeria) have now caught wind of the unscrupulous act and are now preparing to sue the bank for both devising and consenting to such a deceitful action, thus allowing the theft of intellectual property to proceed under its sponsorship and banner.

Sony Pictures have frantically sent down their representatives to Nigeria to look in these matters and have insisted that they intend to do all it takes to protect their intellectual property as these remain the currency of trade in the media world. Sony Pictures we gather would also go to the extent of severing ties with any television network affiliate of the show.

What this translates to is that any TV station involved in broadcasting the show would be blacklisted from accessing any content from Sony’s worldwide catalogue which includes blockbuster films, and primetime TV shows.

Meanwhile we hear the matter is being referred to the Nigerian Copyright Council and to the FRAPA –the world intellectual property copyright agency.
When contacted, the licensors of the show whose copyright has been infringed on expressed their distaste regarding the ongoing issue.

Naija Entertainment News.

I'm sure y'all understand my absense. Trying to put our show together nicely. The date is still Aug 3rd but the venue has changed now from Lagoon Restaurant V/I to Golden Gates Restaurant Ikoyi. Hope to see some of you there.
And hope everyone is doing OK. If you're not, you will be fine in no time. Just hang in there.

Ok, let's do what we know how to do best...me gossip, you read and not leave a comment. Lol.
Let's start with my favorite Naija artiste..Tuface. I love picking on him huh? lol He granted an interview recently and well, he had some interesting things to say...enjoy...

"I'm the best person to speak on condom" - Tuface by Seun Apara
What is your greatest regret in life? 2face "I think it was the first day I smoked because that was the day I started drinking"

How does it feel to have kids from different women?
2face "The truth is if I din't want people to know that I have kids, people will not know. I love my children and I am performing my responsibility as a father. I can’t run away from them. They’re my children and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. I don’t think I am the only person that has children from different women. Everybody is guilty of one sin or the other."

Tell us about your women
2face
I don’t like talking about them

There’s a rumour that you impregnated a South African lady, how true is it?
2face
I heard it too. But I want to tell you now that it’s not true. I didn’t impregnate anybody from SA. If I did, I won’t deny it”

As an ambassador that preaches the use of condoms to prevent HIV and AIDS, how do you apply it to your personal life?
2face
If I say use condom to prevent HIV, you must use it because I am saying it with all sincerity. You can’t afford to have casual sex because of the risks involved. I even believe that I am the best person to talk about HIV and condoms at the moment because I believe I am now more experienced than before."
What of sex without condom?
2face
That one na if you want to do o, you’re on your own.”

As a music star, what are the things you’re yet to achieve?
2face
“I still need that international recognition. I want my songs played in every part of the world”

What are the things you dislike as a star?
2face
Too much unwanted attention. Someone you don’t know will be pretending to be your number one lover. Too many pretenders around you. You can’t even live a quiet life.”

Kakakam...aka..the end lol

Joke
Funny chaeating stories...
ENJOY…………..
The 1st Affair
A married man was having an affair with his secretary. One day they went to her place and made love all afternoon. Exhausted, they fell asleep and woke up at 8 PM. The man hurriedly dressed and told his lover to take his shoe outside and rub them in the grass and dirt. He put on his shoes and drove home. "Where have you been?" his wife demanded. "I can't lie to you," he replied, "I'm having an affair with my secretary. We had sex all afternoon." She looked down at his shoes and said: "You lying bastard! You've been playing golf!"

The 2nd Affair
A middle-aged couple had two beautiful daughters but always talked about having a son. They decided to try one last time for the son they always wanted. The wife got pregnant and delivered a healthy baby boy. The joyful father rushed to the nursery to see his new son. He was horrified at the ugliest child he had ever seen. He told his wife: "There's no way I can be the father of this baby. Look at the two beautiful daughters I fathered! Have you been fooling around behind my back?" The wife smiled sweetly and replied "Not this time!"

The 3rd Affair
A mortician was working late one night. He examined the body of Mr. Schwartz, about to be cremated, and made a startling discovery. Schwartz had the largest private part he had ever seen!"I'm sorry Mr. Schwartz," the mortician commented, "I can't allowyou to be cremated with such an impressive private part. It must be saved forposterity." So, he removed it, stuffed it into his briefcase, and took it home"I have something to show you won't believe," he said to his wife, opening his briefcase. "My God!" the wife exclaimed, "Schwartz is dead!"

The 4th Affair
A woman was in bed with her lover when she heard her husband openingthe front door. "Hurry," she said, "stand in the corner."She rubbed baby oil all over him, then dusted him with talcum powder."Don't move until I tell you," she said, " pretend you're a statue."
"What's this?" the husband inquired as he entered the room."Oh it's a statue," she replied, "the Smiths bought one and I likedit so I got one for us, too." No more was said, not even when they went to bed. Around 2 AM the husband got up, went to the kitchen and returned with a sandwich and a beer. "Here," he said to the statue, "Have this. I stood like that for two days at the Smiths and nobody offered me a damned thing."

The 5th Affair
A man walked into a cafe, went to the bar and ordered a beer. "Certainly, Sir , that'll be one cent." "One Cent?" the man exclaimed. He glanced at the menu and asked: "How much for a nice juicy steak and a bottle of wine?" "A nickel," the barman replied. "A nickel?" exclaimed the man."Where's the guy who owns this place?" The bartender replied "Upstairs, with my wife." The man asked: "What's he doing upstairs with your wife?" The bartender replied "The same thing I'm doing to his business down here."

The 6th Affair
Jake was dying. His wife sat at the bedside. He looked up and said weakly:"I have something I must confess." "There's no need to, " his wife replied."No," he insisted, "I want to die in peace.I slept with your sister, your best friend, her best friend, and your mother!"
"I know," she replied, " now just rest and let the poison work."

What I know about love + Dragons Den Nigeria

I'm the last person to ask advice on matters of love. What do I know? What have I experienced? I'm not married, haven't been in many relationships, I started the love game much later in life. Sometimes I wonder if I've ever really been in love. I'm as confused about love as most of you are, but in all my confusion, there are a few things I know for sure about this thing called love.
These are the things I believe...
1. I believe that when you finally meet 'the one', that special someone meant for you, somewhere deep inside of you, both of you will know. It will feel like you've known each other in another life or another place...you just will KNOW!

2. I believe God knows when to send that special someone to us. He sends them when He thinks it's the right time , not when we think it's the right time.

3. I believe God has someone special for everyone. If the relationship you've been in or in right now didn't or doesn't work out, then that's not the person God wants for you.

4. I believe that love comes in the most unique and amazing ways. Sometimes when we least expect it.

5. Sometimes real love is just right under our noses. All we need to do is look well.

6. I believe in love we don't need to pretend or mold ourselves according to our partner's expectations. Let them love us for who we really are...

7. Love is the most beautiful gift, because with all the money and success in the world, if you have no one to share it with, it means nothing.

8. The mistake we women make is wait around for a man to make up his mind whether he wants to marry us or not. I believe that a real man pretty much knows right away when he sees his 'future wife'. After that, he's just checking to confirm what he already know...
9. There's nothing wrong with being single (If you're happy), but there's a lot wrong with being unhappily married.

10. When it comes to love, don't be a coward. Go look for it and hold on to it when you find it.

Ok, this is what I know about love. What about you? What do you know for sure about love?

Why do women have sex? + Chris Brown & GUS 5 pictures

A guy told me a few hours ago, that women have sex for different reasons...none of which is just for pleasure. According to him, men have sex mostly for pleasure, while women do it for...
~Procreation
~Pleasing their men
~Duty as a wife
~Material gains
~Because their friends are doing it

That's why men PAY for sex and women DON"T!
We don't have sex for pleasure? (Bo ya lo mo...lol)
And Women don't pay for sex???
Hmmmm...what has anyone got to say about this?

Meanwhile here are pictures from Gulder Ultimate Search 5, currently filming in Enugu...

Genevieve Nnaji, Ghanaian producer in messy fight
'I didn't collect $110, 000 from her' Genevieve
By Stella Dimoko Korkus

According to the rumour making rounds, actress Genevieve Nnaji was reportedly fired from a movie set, Tulip, after being paid over $110, 000. The rumour alleged that the actress made herself unavailable to the producers and the was rude when she was eventually contacted, thus leading to he being 'fired' from the set. We contacted Genevieve to hear her own side of the story and this is her response...

Stella ' What is this Tulip story being circulated and what actually happened. We heard you made demands to take your PA with you amongst other demands
Genevieve"A Ghanaian lady called Leila Djansi, living in America set up a company and decided to shoot a movie. She approached and I told her to send the script. She did and I liked the role. I told her I would be interested based on contract negotiations and rest of cast. She got back to me and I was informed that I would be working alongside Kimberly Elise and some up and coming Ghanaians actors. I made no demand whatsoever. I was told a Ghanaian would be my PA while shooting in some villages in Ghana and I said NO, I already had one and would even be willing to pay her ticket to Ghana, but I will not use a stranger. There was no trip to America mentioned until October, so I could never have demanded to take my PA along although I want to state that if I felt like it, I would have requested it. After all, when we bring foreign acts over here, we allow them to come with nutritionist, PA and whoever they choose to bring. So this is a lie, 'demands' were not made. I was asked to forward recent pictires for their promo campaign, measurement details and address to send contract to in Nigeria, I did all those things. What did I get in return? Leila Djansi began stalking me with calls about how Ghanaians are angry she hired a Nigerian actress. How people were telling her I'm a snob and so on. Discussions were held and we concluded this is normal, that there will ayways be haters and I'm used to it. But I am a professional , so I was not interested in ldle gossip."
Were you fired from this movie or you left of your own?
Genevieve "I lost interest because she now seemed like the regular African in the Disapora who wanted to shoot a movie and some of them even appraoch without a script and think just because they are based in the States, Nigerian acts should jump on and kiss their ass. Leila started hounding me with calls. I was tired of someone who wanted to trade gossip and be my 'friend' rather than talk about the movie. I don't work like that, so I stopped taking her calls and insisted that we communicate via email until she had sent the final script. This was not good enough for her. She insisted on speaking with me on the phone and when I refused, she lost it and things degenerated to where they are now. This led to Leila insulting me, Nollywood, Ghanawood and everyone. She told me how she has witnesses she will roll out to show that Genevieve has a bad reputation , how she's severing the contract and all that, but there was no contract. How can terminate a contract that did not exist in the first place? She never paid me any money. She said derogatory things and I quote "A bit of advise, nobody in Hollywood gives about your Nigerian and Ghanaian film industry, you are the only people who glory in your inferior work. You really think someone here will sit through an hour and a half pure torture of the same freaky music playing over the movie and the screaming and the tantrums? You really think I want anyone here to think Africans are crazy?
That's what she told me. I have said for years that I am not desperate for Nollywood. I am an actress and I want to act in the best and I want to act in the best stories and in the best produced movies with thorough professionals. If a Hollywood studio offers me a movie, they will approach me as true professionals they are and I will respond as I always have, like a professional. But if fans based in the US think because they are based in the US, I should abandon all my work ethics and policies that have kept me where I am for over 10 years and will continue to keep me at the top of my profession, then they must be deluded and I told Djansi that, along with infroming her that Nollywood is African made and we are proud and if we had half the resources or time that Hollywood actors have, we would just be as good, if not better...."

The interview went on and on, but I'm going to stop here...im tired of typing..lol. But seriously I don't care what anyone says, I love Geneveive Nnaji. I just think she's a little misunderstood...

Naeto C's Album is out...
