Lagos cyclists rescue unconscious ACN politicians from car

Six ward chairmen of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) were, on Friday, saved from possible death by a group of Okada drivers and residents in the Gbagada area of Lagos. The men were discovered unconscious and foaming from the mouth inside a vehicle along Deeper Life Road of the Lagos suburb.

The crowd, which intercepted the Sienna wagon car, forced the driver into the premises of the Ifako police division, Gbagada where the quick intervention of medical officials at a nearby clinic helped to revive the men. Some of the men threw up when they regained consciousness, leading to speculation that they may have been poisoned.
The politicians, who claimed to be coming from an aborted meeting with a leader of the party named Oris at his hotel in Ibafo, Ogun State said they could not explain when they lost consciousness and how they got to the police station.

Of the car's occupants, only the driver (also a local party leader), appeared unaffected as he drove the men from Ibafo to Lagos, until the lucky intervention of the crowd. The driver is now in detention and is believed to be helping the police with their enquiries. Motorcyclists said they chanced on the men after the driver, whom they accused of reckless driving, almost overran one of them. They chased and forced him to stop.

CAN president Oritsejafor replies Sultan of Sokoto, on Islamic Banking

Sultan or Sokoto and Pastor Oritsejafor
Sultan of Sokoto: "Islamic banking has come to stay in Nigeria and there is no need to quarrel over the issue because we shall realize what we want. I want to assure you.”

CAN president, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor's reply: “You know I respect the Sultan a great deal because he is a man who means well for the country just like some of us. We will continue to be friends because the only way this country can make appreciable progress is by stretching a hand of fellowship across the Niger and building blocks of unity for future generations. So, I thank him immensely for his eventual comments about the two controversial issues. However, I dare say that I was a bit surprised that the Sultan, who is respected across the country, failed to address the two cardinal issues involved in the controversial Islamic banking before he concluded that it has come to stay.”

For the avoidance of doubt,  “Christians in Nigeria are not against the Muslims as people have made the generality of Nigerians to believe. We are not against Muslims. In fact, it the Christians that have always been at the receiving end of every violence that has taken place in parts of the North.
“Let it also be known that we are not against Islamic banking per se. What we have said thus far, is that there are two issues that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor must address properly before the introduction of non-interest banking as against Islamic banking.

“One, we have continued to frown at the way the CBN governor who is being paid by tax payers’ money is championing the course of Islamic banking in isolation of other non-interest banking. We are against Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi using state funds to promote Islamic banking as though that is the only form of non-interest banking. It is against the spirit of the Nigerian Constitution.

“He should allow people who are interested in Islamic banking to use their money to sell their manifesto to Nigerians with a view to wooing them to accept that form of banking which is different from what they used to know,” he explained.

“the other issue that my very good friend failed to address has to do with the guidelines the CBN governor had put in place for the issuance of licence for non-interest banking in the country which is different from that for Islamic banking. In every sector of the nation’s economy including the education sector, there are uniform guidelines for the registration or operating license. For instance, any Nigerian applying to the National Universities Commission, NUC, for licence to establish a university, irrespective of its leanings, is required to adhere to a uniform set of guidelines before its registration. There are no rules for Islamic university and another for a Christian university.

“But the CBN governor has failed, thus far, to explain to the nation why he is putting up a different guideline for Islamic banking and another one for other forms of non-interest banking. This is in addition to a proposed establishment of a Shari’a Council of Experts to be based at the CBN to monitor the operations of the Islamic banking and we have asked; is this what operates in all the countries in the world where Islamic banking operates?”

On the activities of Boko Haram, the CAN president also picked holes in the statement credited to the Sultan, who said the state of affairs in the North Eastern part of the country should not be blamed on Boko Haram, rather that the government should fish out those behind the violence.

Oritsejafor, again thanked the Sultan for his position on the Boko Haram, saying “if the eminent citizen has superior information, he should avail the nation’s security apparatus with such information with a view to putting a stop to the daily massacre of innocent Nigerians in that part of the country, because every Nigerian is sick and tired of the continued violence in that region and the attendant effect on the nation’s economy. For the interest of peace in every part of the country, we must, as citizens contribute our own little quota to helping government at every level to reduce the army of unemployed youths in the country.”

In conclusion, Pastor Oritsejafor said: “These are some of the issues, among others, that one would have expected the Sultan to address to assuage the nerves of those who are opposed to the issue of Islamic banking as well as the insecurity situation in Borno State that has left hundreds of innocent Nigerians dead while their means of livelihood destroyed.”

According to him Nigeria is the only nation we, both Christians and Muslims, have and every effort must be made to salvage it together now for the benefit of generations yet.

Soulja Boy's 21st Birthday Gift To Self - $55 Million G5 Jet

From TMZ
A member of Soulja's management team tells us ... the kid bought himself a G5 jet as a birthday present to himself this week.

The jet cost $35 mil ... but that's just the beginning. We're told the birthday boy is dropping an additional $20 million to pimp out his ride with all sorts of cool stuff ... like 12 custom Italian leather seats, flat screen TVs, 4 liquor bars, a special travertine tiled floor, and Brazilian hardwood cabinets.

We're told S.B. is also gutting the in-flight lavatory and replacing it with a giant, luxurious bathroom. Oh, he's also giving the jet a custom paint job, to include his logo.
$55million? Is Soulja Boy even worth that much? Nigga please! This news is probably for entertainment purposes only...lol. Anyway, hope he puts some cash aside for when he's no longer relevant in music so he doesn't end up like MC Hammer some of the greats who are fighting bankruptcy.

Brothers attack pilot after he boots them off plane

A pair of thuggish brothers brutally attacked an American Airlines pilot after he kicked one of them off a plane for being passed out drunk.

Jonathan and Luis Baez, both of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, were arrested at Miami International airport on Wednesday night July27, for the assault, which left the pilot bruised and bloodied and delayed the San Francisco bound flight more than two hours.

The scuffle started after a flight attendant noticed that Jonathan Baez, 27, had passed out without buckling his seat belt as the plane pulled away from the gate. The attendant tried to wake Baez, but he was groggy and appeared plastered on booze or high on drugs.

After the attendant told the crew that Baez wouldn't buckle up, the pilot stopped taxiing and turned around, cops said. When Baez finally came to, the attendant told him he had to get off the plane.

Luis Baez, 29, decided to follow his brother, and the two screamed obscenities at the pilot.
"When you fly to San Juan, I will have you killed," one of the goons shouted, according to police.
Crew members escorted the brothers off the plane, but Jonathan ran back, punched the pilot in the face and then punched a female flight attendant who tried to step in.

Luis then joined in the vicious beatdown, and the two hoodlums chased the pilot into the terminal, cops said. Eventually, some passengers and crew members tackled the brothers and held them down until police arrived.

The Miami-based pilot was cut up, bruised and shaken after the attack, police said.
Another pilot showed up, and the 176 passengers and six crew members took off for San Francisco at around 11:30 p.m., two hours after the scheduled take off.

Jonathan and Luis Baez were held at Miami-Dade county jail on $9,000 bond and $12,500 bond on assault and battery charges.

Dr. Reuben Abati's statement

“It is not true that four years “is too short” for a President or a Governor to make a difference. The President didn’t get it, and it is important that he does. The period appears too short because many of our elected Governors and Presidents (well, we have had only a few) begin to think of what to do, only when they get to office. They have no blueprint, no clear understanding of what is required, they do not even listen to the people well enough, and the parties that brought them to power have no manifesto, no plan of action, no defined contract with the Nigerian people. Given such background, the complexity of bureaucracy and the enormity of official powers could prove so intimidating that the typical overnight man of power could find himself or herself completely ill-prepared for high office. But this is what we want changed. In states where the Governors are prepared, we have seen so much done in four years.” - Reuben Abati, current spokesman to President Jonathan, wrote and published this statement on May 29, 2011, before his appointment on July 2, 2011.

He's singing a totally different tune now!

Who killed our beloved Tola Spiff? - Family members

Late Tola Spiff
Written by Adebayo Ajagunna.

On the 6th of February 2011, Mrs Oyetola Oluwaseun Spiff (Nee Odunlami) who we all simply called 'Tola' a 36yr old mother of two boys and the marketing mnager JKK Komputers Ikorody Road, Lagos, was brought in unconscious brought in unconscious to the Obanleaje Hospital Obanikoro Lagos at about 3pm by her husband Mr George Ikoli-Spiff. When Tola was brought into the hospital, George kept insisting to the hospital staff that Tola took poison after they had a serious quarrel. The hospital staff asked George how he knew it was poison, but he couldn't provide no satisfatory answer.

Tola ultimately passed on the 9th of February 2011 and the autopsy report confirms she was poisoned, since then her father and brothers with the help of the Homicide Team of the Nigerian Police Force have been working day and night to get to the root of what is beginning to look like a murder investigation.

Tola’s older brother Mr. Abiodun Odunlami a UK based solicitor has led the family’s effort so far. Last week Wednesday the Police extended an invitation to Tola’s husband George to come in for questioning in respect of the investigation, the invitation expires on Wednesday 27th July 2011. Since the Police invitation, Abiodun’s life is being harassed consistently by members of George’s family. On the 23rd of July 2011 at about 6PM a certain Mr. Anthony George Ikoli called Abiodun imploring and pressuring him to prevail on the police to withdraw the invitation to George, in a call which could pass as a threat, he informed Abiodun that he is not only the Attorney General of Bayelsa State , but that he was also a SAN and could make one phone call to Abuja to make life uncomfortable for the entire Odunlami family. He also told Abiodun that he belongs to many prestigious socio/political organizations in Lagos insinuating that he could make life further uncomfortable for Abiodun if he doesn’t back off.

For those of us who knew the ever smiling beautiful Tola Odunlami in FGGC Owerri and in UI or who were touched by her absolute warmth during her short career and life, please help circulate this note and implore Mr George Ikoli-Spiff to honour the police invitation before the 27th of July as requested, if he has nothing to hide I don’t see why he should be afraid to go and say what he knows to the police, afterall he was the last person that was with Tola alive. We are also appealing to the “big man” Mr. Anthony George Ikoli to allow the police do their job afterall we are in a democracy. We are also telling Mr. Ikoli that we join hands with the Almighty God to keep an eye on every member of the Odunlami family, we pray for everyone’s sake that nothing happens to anyone of them especially, Abiodun.

GEORGE IKOLI-SPIFFF please GO AND ANSWER THE POLICE to CLEAR YOUR NAME. God will expose whoever had a hand in Tola’s death. Lets keep Tola's picture on our profile till those invited by the police show up on Wednesday.

No one will lose a loved one in a questionable way and not seek to know d "how?" & d "why?". No one is presuming or passing judgments on d tragic death of TOLA SPIFF; what we are requesting is that NO ONE stand in d way of d ongoing police inquiry and that ALL PERSONS OF INTEREST invited by d police, should respond and co-operate so that this can come to a quick closure. Its d BEST way forward for ALL parties.

WE LOVE YOU TOLA, and we need to know what took you away from us so suddenly. RIP pleasant one.

Peter and Paul Okoye open up about each other

In an interview with Encomium magazine, the brothers open up about each other...

Peter on Paul - "Paul is a reserved person. Sometimes anything I like he likes, and sometimes he will disagree and there's nothing you can tell him. When he says yes, it's final. And when he says no, no going back. If you convince me, I will accept what you say, but not Paul. People say Paul is quiet, Peter is loud. This is very normal, because we can't be the same. Some people prefer to meet him, while others say it is me they want to see.

We have a lot of disagreements but it's usually over music. Paul is someone I am proud of. I remember when we had the game over album, and we were to select our best five, I am going to be honest with you, I didn't Do Me and No One Like You but Paul did and at the end of the day, the two songs became the best in that album.

Paul on Peter after the cut...

Paul on Peter: Peter is a perfectionist, especially when it comes to music. He is entertaining and energetic. But I can also tell you he is a loud person. He raises his voice on something that shouldn't be. I am sure he will tell you that I am quiet. I don't talk. I think a lot. I will say the difference between us is that I am quiet and reserved, while Peter is the opposite. For instance emotional, soft songs like Ifunanya, No One Like You, Possibility, Forever etc, are the kind of songs that came from me, and all the energetic songs like Roll It, Busy Body etc are from Peter. Our attitudes affect the type of songs we bring out.

"I've stopped smoking marijuana" - Tuface Idibia

He did an exclusive interview with Yes! Weekly Magazine, and he opened up on a lot of issues, one of which was his smoking habit. Below is what he said about it:
"I have never tried cocaine or heroine but I've done marijuana before. But I never took it to go on stage. It was just for relaxation purpose. Eventually I knew marijuana wasn't for me, so I stopped. Because it makes me feel like I am in another world. I stopped using it a couple of years ago. It wasn't difficult stopping. It was just craziness that introduced me to marijuana. You know how youth energy used to push one into things like that. In those days I used to listen to songs like 'Rolling down the street smoking'. All those songs can influence, if you want to be influenced. It is not for me to advise musicians not to write or sing about drugs.
If Tuface can stop smoking marijuana, so can you. You! Yes I'm talking to You!..:-)

Rihanna on females dominating music right now

Rihanna covers the new issue of Glamour Magazine and inside she talks about the pack of females running the music game right now. On females dominating the music scene Rihanna says,

“There’s a pack. It’s me, Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyoncé…who else? Ke$ha, for sure. Women are definitely dominating music right now, and that’s because we are competitive beings. I feel like music hasn’t been this exciting in a while.”
Do you agree with the list of females in Rihanna's pack?

Paul Okoye talks about the woman in his life.

"I am a reserved person so I really don't like talking about my private life. Even if I have many women, I am not going to tell the public about it, because I am not the kind of man that will carry his woman to the public. But since you insist, my girlfriend's name is Anita, she just graduated from the University and works in an oil company. I am not going to release a picture of us because I want no interference. I started dating her when I was a nobody, and today she has become a part of me. She is someone who doesn't care that I am famous. She has this belief of do you own thing, let me do mine. She is not just my girlfriend, she is also my best friend. She is a nice person even though every woman has her fault. She is in fact the best thing and the worst thing. When I say best, she is the best thing that makes me happy but she is also the only thing that makes me sad. Whenever she does something that hurts, it really hurts me. If we both have a quarrel, the pain is worse." - Paul Okoye

Awww, sounds like a man in love. BTW, Paul's girlfriend was in the No One Be Like You video, watch it again and you will see what she looks like. That's if you can figure out which of the girls she is...:-)
