Uche Jumbo set to wed footballer boyfriend?

That is what Stella Dimoko Korkus is reporting in this week's Encomium magazine.
Here's what she wrote
"The ring is actually on her left index finger. She is not hiding but she's also not talking about it. She got the ring sometime last year from Ikechukwu (Uche) and the two are planning a wedding. Some of Uche's very close friends know of this engagement and are helping her keep it under the carpet. The ring is a simple silver ring with three diamond stones decorating it.
I found a pic (above) of her wearing a ring similar to what Stella described. I don't know if she's truly engaged, but if she is, then a big congrats to her!

Ibadan poly shut over students’ protest

The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, yesterday announced the indefinite closure of the institution following a protest embarked upon by its students at the Governor’s Office to demand for the reversal in their tuition fees.

The protest, though initially peaceful, nearly degenerated into a breakdown of law and order as policemen attached to the complex fired teargas canisters at the protesting students, forcing them to scamper for safety.
This created panic in the area as commuters and traders abandoned their wares and ran for their lives.

The development also caused traffic gridlock in the area as vehicles heading towards the secretariat were forced to make a detour as all entrant gates leading into the secretariat complex were firmly locked by security operatives.

The Polytechnic’s management, in a statement by its Registrar, Tosho Ayanwale, attributed the closure of the institution to the lawless attitude of the students who invaded the Governor’s Office to demand for the reversal in their tuition fees.

Coincidentally, Governor Abiola Ajimobi and other leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) were holding an interfaith service within the Governor’s Office when the students arrived at the scene.
Ayanwale said the directive was with immediate effect and urged parents to call their wards to comply with the management’s decision.
The students in their hundreds, had pleaded with the new government to review the high fees imposed on them by the immediate past administration of Adebayo Alao-Akala.
One of the student leaders, who spoke with journalists on the condition of anonymity, deplored the hike in tuition fees by the Alao-Akala administration, saying a fresh Higher National Diploma (HND) student pays over a hundred thousand naira.

“The fresh HND 1 students are made to pay about N84,000 while the old students pay N47,500. The accommodation fee is N17,500 and we hardly have electricity supply and water. There are no facilities in the hostels, yet the management is forcing us to pay.

“This is unacceptable to us. We have paid 60 per cent of the fees and they are compelling us to balance up within a week. We cannot agree with this. Governor Ajimobi had before his inauguration promised to remove 50 per cent of the fees. We have paid even more than half of the fees and so we are calling on the governor to address the situation”, he said.

Naomi Campbell offended after Cadbury likens her to a chocolate bar

Naomi Campbell is considering taking legal action against Cadbury, after the company launched a new advert that compared her to a chocolate bar. The company unveiled a new campaign last week with a slogan reading "Move over Naomi, there's a new diva in town". And Naomi is mad as hell...lol

"I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful." Naomi told reporters

Cadbury released a statement saying: "It was certainly never our intention to cause any offence and the campaign itself is a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss,"  "Cadbury takes its responsibility very seriously indeed and we would never produce any marketing activity we felt might cause offence to any section of society."

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with being associated with delicious yummy chocolate candy. I would have been honored. But maybe Cadbury should have paid her for using her name or something. What do you think, was this offensive?

Desmond Elliot comments on the Kenyan Ambassador wife battery saga

Desmond in Kenya over the weekend
I put the comments by the actor here because when the guys from Kenya called me, they kept saying, speak with your Nollywoood stars, they've been here, they've seen what this woman is capable of...blah, blah blah. Desmond Elliot was with the High Commissioner in Kenya over the weekend with other Nollywood stars.

He's been tweeting all morning about the incident. In his tweets, he wrote that he believes the woman deliberated planned this to embarrass and disgrace her husband and the nation of Nigeria that the commissioner represents. Read it after the cut...

I felt bad for the high commissioner's wife but something just didn't add up,the pic looked very worked on, doctored' my sentiments I shared wit my colleagues

Also being an ardent viewer of crime n investigation it ws very obvious I wasn't the only one, I believe the high coms wife watches as well

Told the high com about the concerns of my peeps on tweet n facebook n he gave me his side of the story..not bcos I was the Nigerian govt but bcos I was in Kenya on the high com's bill n I represented the Nigerian people as well

Now the high coms side of the story obviously would favour him but wen the children of the victim come out to cry foul then u become concerned

I met wit the high com daughter (Ada) at a mall and I asked about the incident and she was just as shocked and surprisd that her mother wld do such a thing guess wat she was home on that fateful day may the 11th

The high com confirmed to me there was a heavy argument that fateful day but said he never inflicted injury on his wife..the daughter confirmed that to me, the son as well wrote a statement to the police
The victims daughter said she was shocked when she saw two cuts on her mums face (surprised how her mum got them) and she asked her son to get her her camera then used her hand to rub her the blood over her face and took the pic HERSELf (which is what we all have seen)

So questions that comes to my mind and to that of the victims daughter. 1, why would madam release the pics 2wks after the incident. 2, was it a mere coincidence that the pics came out when an important event organized by d high com just started. 3, why did the pic com out just 2wks b4 the high com retires after putting over 25 yrs of his life serving his country as a diplomat?

Now am not saying the high com is a saint,he wasn't when he was arguing wit his wife , he wasn't when he PROBABLY pushed her but was that a reason for madam to go all out to kill a man's career?
My peeps I implore this great govt of Nigeria as they listen to both sides of the story to pl careful judge this case with caution..I believe after listening to their daughter, that the wife exaggerated the injury (that is if she didn't cut herself), madam deliberately planned this to embarrass and disgrace her husband and the nation of Nigeria that the commissioner represents.
-Ends-

Ambassador Wiwge will be in Nigeria this week to make a formal presentation to the Federal Government on the issue that observers say has put a question mark on his integrity as a diplomat.
